My dear Miss Thomas: --

May I assure you that I very much appreciate the honor of being asked to give the Commencement address at Bryn Mawr College on June 6th, and that I shall accept with great pleasure if I can possible change an appointment which I had already made with the Girton School to give a Commencement address there on June 6th. If I can change the engagement with them I will let you know at once. I will not apologize for this very indefinite reply because I want you to know that my delay was not due to any lack of appreciation of the honor conferred upon me by the Board.
