Dear Miss Addams
I am very grateful for all the trouble you have taken and am afraid I have taken up time that was already fully occupied.
I have had a letter from Miss Balch forwarded to me by Mrs Swanwick, asking for the name of a British woman who would be willing to undertake a W.I.L. lecture tour in America along with Fraulein Baer and [Mlle] Dejardin. Mrs Swanwick suggests that I should go, and I have written to Miss Balch saying that I should be pleased to undertake this. Miss Balch informs me that the American Section can pay expenses only but I shall hope to get [page 2] some engagements to make out.
I enclose the notes & syllabus I have been preparing on your suggestion so that I could appeal to other circles than the W.I.L. I send a recent photograph also and as I get them from the printer I shall send on some copies of my the notes & syllabus for distribution.
I had intended getting into communication with a lecture agency and ascertaining the prospects of arranging a lecture tour amongst women’s clubs and women’s [organizations] in the autumn in America.
I am keen on disarmament propaganda but I also want to get into touch with the American feminist movement, gain some knowledge of it and compare it with similar movements in Britain. If possible [page 3] I would like also to get in touch with [Labor] and social circles. Probably if I come over in April you can advise me. I find I can have a berth in the "Haverford" sailing from Liverpool on April 12th. But I shall take no definite steps until I hear from Miss Balch or the American section -- in the meantime I am waiting for confirmation.
