THE WOMAN'S PEACE PARTY
THE SECTION FOR THE UNITED STATES OF
THE INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF WOMEN FOR PERMANENT PEACE
NATIONAL OFFICE
ROOM 1506, 116 S. MICHIGAN AVE.
CHICAGO

May 14th, 1918.

To the Members of the Board:

We have written the enclosed letter to the fourteen ↑delegates to the Congress After the War↓ members who were willing to come to a meeting in the "East" in June. It was hoped to have a meeting of the Board at the same time and place.

There is, however, nothing special that could not be postponed. We hope that you will agree with us that it will be well to close the office of the Woman's Peace Party for June, July, August and September. Mrs. Karsten will hold an office hour every Saturday morning and will go in every few days for mail and make appointments there whenever desirable. But so few people come into the office, that it seems best to save the half salary of the stenographer which we have been paying.

I should be very glad if it seemed advisable, to come East in June or later, to meet with the "Five", Mrs. Mead, Mrs. Kelley, Mrs. Andrews and Miss Balch or to meet with the fourteen. Perhaps a meeting of the Five would accomplish all that we could do with the larger number and possibly this too could be postponed until the Annual Meeting of the Woman's Peace Party in December.

May we have an immediate reply from you in regard to these propositions.

Faithfully yours,

Jane Addams [signed by secretary]
