Biographical Text

Allen Bartlit Pond was an American architect that worked during the Arts and Crafts movement. He partnered with his brother, Irving Pond, in 1886, to create Pond and Pond Architects. They would work together for the next 40 years. Pond and Pond never took extremely large commissions, but they had many loyal clients, including Hull-House. Pond and Pond worked closely with Hull-House, building both the Hull-House complex and Chicago Commons. They went on to study urban settlement house building, as well as design other buildings related to social services. Pond died in 1929.
