Dear Madam,

I saw today my friend Mr. Charles Roden [Buxton], who suggested that you might have something interesting & important to say on your recent visit to Germany. I ventured to ask you if you would lunch with me today, but the letter has [page 2] miscarried. Would you allow me to call on you at your hotel tomorrow (Tuesday) say at 6 pm?

Yours [in haste?],

H. W. Massingham
