My dear Mrs. Kent:-

I am not planning to attend the meeting to be held in Philadelphia on January twelfth just at present, so am afraid it will be impossible for me to accept your very kind invitation.

I expect to do a certain amount of Suffrage speaking, but am confining it as nearly as possible to the Western states in which amendments are pending.  I am sure you know that I regret very much to have to decline your cordial invitation.
