My dear Miss Addams --

It was very good of you to write and to send me your book. I appreciate your thoughtfulness more than I can tell you. The chapters of Peace and Bread which I have read in The Survey have interested me greatly -- being one of the people in whom the war spirit was roused in spite of previous convictions I am glad to read [page 2] about the group who were too clear minded to be deceived as to the true situation -- I think there were a lot of my kind -- I shall certainly remember your kind invitation to stop at Hull House when I go back -- and as so if possible -- When I get as far as Chicago there is usually something calling from Cleveland that makes me feel I must not delay -- but it might be different this year -- anyway I am glad of [page 3] the suggestion -- and I am

always faithfully yours

Lucy Burton Buell --
