My dear Miss Gale:

I am sending with this a letter from Miss Balch which explains itself. I assume that you have had the literature from the Neutral Conference Committee. Do you want to join as in an appeal to the women’s clubs that they help make public opinion to that end? Will you write something and sign it and let me put my name underneath? I have not been Chairman of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs for ten years and have had little to do with them recently and so I am sure you would have more weight with this contemporary generation than I would. To tell the truth I am not very hopeful about their [cooperation]. They seem to be hopelessly Philistine in regard to peace and war.

Always affectionately yours,

Miss Zona Gale,
Portage, Wisconsin.
