My dear Madame Schwimmer: --

The letter we read together was not from Miss Kathleen Courtney at all but from Lady Courtney, at whose house I had spoken. You doubtless know her. It does not therefore mean such a change in the committee as we had hoped.

I am sending you a postal card received this morning from Miss Hobhouse, which also looks as if the English Committee might have been active in that direction. I cannot make out the situation.

Looking forward to seeing you on Friday, I am

Cordially yours,

Jane Addams [signed]

Madame Rosika Schwimmer
