My dear Miss Balch: --

I would suggest that you send the amount you have collected for Amsterdam directly there in charge of Dr. Jacobs at headquarters. Mrs. Pinchot has made arrangements for sending $300, and as long as we keep an account of what has been sent from America I think that is all that is necessary.

I cannot tell you how disappointed I was when your telegram came this morning. I ventured to telegraph you once again because it seems to me that we cannot fail now.
