Miss Jane Addams,
Chicago.

My dear Miss [Addams]:

You will recall me when I tell you that I formerly lived at Oak Park, Ills. My daughter, Miss Stella Packard, taught a cooking class at Hull House a few years ago.

I am enclosing herewith a plan which I have formulated looking to the establishment of permanent peace by the total disarmament of every nation on the face of the earth. I trust you will read this plan and give it your careful consideration and let me know what you think of it.

I regret to learn of your serious illness and hope and pray that you may be speedily restored to your accustomed health and your life preserved for many more years of usefulness.

Very respectfully yours,

Samuel Ware Packard [signed]
