My dear Mrs. Blaine,

Thank you so much for the big check which came this morning. It enables us to end our year free of debt, which is something of an achievement in these pressing times.

I am venturing to enclose a letter from Miss Coman, which came this morning, because she asked me to present it to you. I have great confidence in Miss Coman's judgment and her knowledge of industrial conditions.

With every possible good wish for the New Year, I am,

Affectionately yours,

Jane Addams [signed]

Mrs. Emmons Blaine,
Chicago.
