PRESIDENT'S OFFICE

June 27/1912

Dear Miss Addams,

There is no uniformity, I may say, in reply to your letter of the 22d, in regard to the number of copies printed in an edition of any book. As a matter of fact the four printings of your book so far engaged number in all approximately 8700 copies. The third edition of the book has just been exhausted and we are expecting copies of the fourth edition early next week with some prospect, I hope, of selling this edition very shortly after it appears.

I did not intend to bother you about the matter of the next book and am more than satisfied with your kind promise to communicate with me when you are ready to undertake any further book work.

Yours very truly,

George P. Brett [signed]

Miss Jane Addams.
