WOMEN'S INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE FOR PEACE AND FREEDOM

Aug 20" 1921

My dear Mr Thomas

May I [enclose] the copy of a letter I have written to Ruth Fry to explain a telegram sent her by Miss Pye on Brent Allinson's instigation.

I have seen no copy of his cable to you but infer from your reply that he used my name in quite an unauthorized way.

We hoped from the first that it would be possible for all sorts of organizations to [cooperate] in the Russian Relief ↑and were most happy↓ to have our Women's International League finally included. I am sending you some data on our attitude showing how far we were from wishing ↑to issue↓ a separate appeal if it could be avoided.

I saw Mr. [Philip] Baker and other people yesterday who are all very reassuring in the matter. May I write you later. Hastily yours Jane Addams.
