Dear Emily Balch:
It is very trying to have the enclosed letter from Mr Walsh for I very carefully explained to him the situation, that you had your passport, and merely wanted a diplomatic vise and so forth and so on. It is too late now at any rate, but I am sorry to have it go so badly.
I sent Mr Hudson your report on the League of Nations situation, and am enclosing his reply which is very nice I think. Also a call issued by some working men who insist upon my going in with them. I have declined for various reasons, but I think you might be interested to see it. I am writing you again in a day or so.
Always faithfully yours,
Jane Addams [signed]
