Miss Jane Addams,
Hull [House],
Chicago,
U.S.A.

Dear Madam,

The Committee of this League, wishing to make some expression of gratitude to you for the great services you have rendered to the cause of world peace and the future of humanity during the past tragic years, has, at its last meeting, elected you as an honorary associate, subject to your consent.

During the long period of the war, the League of Peace and Freedom has persistently [endeavored] to influence the public mind towards a newer understanding and practice of life, which must exist before peace can be in the world, and I enclose a short account of some of our work.

Yours sincerely,

Edward G. Smith [signed]
