My dear Marcet

Your letters gave me much pleasure, they were so long and so vivid that I have that warmed sense of having seen the children.

Manuel called me up yesterday and reported all well at the farm. I am leaving for some of this everlasting speaking on Food Conditions -- to Detroit & Toledo this time -- but Mary Smith and I will be in Colorado in April & I will try desperately hard to visit Girard on our way back. In the meantime I am very grateful for your letters and bless you every day. Always your devoted Aunt Jane Addams

P.S. the novel sounds awfully interesting. Do get [some help] in the care of Alice, it is the only sensible thing to do.
