Biographical Text

Sarah Rozet, mother of Mary Rozet Smith, was a Philadelphia socialite and philanthropist. Through Mary Rozet Smith, the Smiths became significant supporters of Jane Addams and Hull-House, accompanying her on trips and donating time and money to Hull-House. Sarah Smith was primarily concerned with the Hull-House nursery, education, and training classes. After her death in 1903, Mary Rozet Smith donated an organ to Hull-House's music school in her name.

Rozet married Charles Mather Smith. They had three children: Mary Rozet Smith, Francis Drexel Smith, and Charles Frederick Smith
