Miss Jane Addams,
Hull House,
Chicago, Ill.

Dear Miss Addams:

I enclose herewith proof of the annual report which I will ask you to read critically and return by first mail -- to reach me surely by Monday. I am sorry to hurry you in this way but the report, already much delayed, must be published in next week's issue of the Survey.

The original draft was written by Paul in Paris and sent here. Various changes have been made in it, particularly a reduction in its length, without, I believe, hurting it in any wise; and rearrangement to make it a little more consecutive than his original draft, which was evidently prepared under great pressure, and under particular difficulties as he was not able to secure a stenographer or even a respectable typewriter.

The report itself will be accompanied by an audited financial statement, an appeal for the coming year, a gist column, etc. as usual.

Sincerely yours,

Item Relations
