Dear Madam: --

We have your communication relative to Miss Addams and would like to remind you that Miss Addams, in discussing the Lecture Bureau of this Department with Mrs. John Jay White of Washington, felt that she might possibly be able to give us one or two speeches on Food Conservation.

We are, therefore, writing to secure a date or two, from Miss Addams be they ever so distant.

When you see her, will you not kindly bring this matter to her attention? I can understand why you wish to protect her from the thousands of appeals that are constantly being made for her valuable help, and I appreciate your kind thought of her, nevertheless, she may want to serve the Government in the only constructive Department belonging to the War service.

Sincerely,

R. L. Wilbur,
