My dear Mary

I was very grateful of your letter from Girard, it made the mode of life very clear and graphic and I am sure that all is going well with the young people.

I am sending six tray cloths for the twelfth of August, as nearly as I could recall the size they ought to fit the little table. I am sending them to you that they may be delivered at the proper moment with my love and birthday wishes. I will write a letter as well, but as packages are some times slow, I am sending this in advance.

I hope Marcet and Manuel will manage to be there for the 12:00. I am so useless [page 2] this year both to my family and the world in general -- that I feel very dependent on other people.

Please excuse this bad written letter and with love to you both, I am

Always affectionately yours

Jane Addams
