April 28, 1905.

My dear Mr. Du Bois: --

I have delayed replying to your letter hoping that I could come to Atlanta. I need not tell you that I would rather be of service in some such matter as that than anything else, but it is utterly impossible for me to add any more to my engagements for May and June. My Commencement appointments are made so long ahead and there are so many of them that I seem to spend the month of June largely in walking ↑speeding↓ from one to another. Perhaps another time, if you ask me again I may be more fortunate.

Hoping very much that you will make a habit of staying with us when you come to Chicago and that sometime we shall have the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Du Bois, I am

Faithfully yours,

Jane Addams [signed]
