My dear Mr Davenport

Your letter and telegram reached me here today.

My time in the east is so short and all of my appointments have been ↑made↓ so long in advance, that I find it utterly  impossible to put in another engagement. I have moreover an imperative appointment in Chicago for April 3d.

I am very sorry, for the character of your work interests me very much, and I wish that I might know more of it. Perhaps I ↑may↓ meet you at the meeting of "Neighborhood Workers" in N.Y. on the 30th.
