My dear Lady Gregory: --

Next Thursday evening Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Aldis and some other people from Lake Forest are going to give three plays at Hull-House and will take supper with us afterwards. Knowing your interest in dramatic development I hope very much that you may care to come to see them. It would give me a great deal of pleasure to welcome you to Hull-House.

I should also like to explain my [embarrassment] over certain rumors connected with the proposed trip our young people are taking to Ireland. You may have heard nothing of it, but I want to assure you that the House has had nothing to do with starting such an absurd rumor.

I called at The Congress [Page 2] the other day only to find you out. I am venturing therefore to invite you by letter.

Sincerely yours,

Jane Addams. [signed]

Lady Gregory,
The Congress.
