San Antonio, March 2.
Dear Mrs. Lovett,
We had a delightful journey, really comfortable and restful. J. A. looks very hardy this morning but the cold is apparently too severe. She is resting now. Spoke at a large luncheon at noon. That is happily the only engagement here. We expect to go on tomorrow but shall stop in Monterey if the lady is not well. She sends her love.
