My dear Miss Addams:
I am very glad indeed that you are writing your new series of articles in McClure's Magazine. I am sure that they will do a great deal of good.
I hope that you will, somewhere in it, tell librarians what they could do to help the cause along. We are now trying to do what we can but we have difficulty in finding suitable literature. Then too when we find good books there is a good deal of false modesty to overcome. For example I should like to circulate freely books like Kauffman's House of Bondage and similar books because they teach the lesson concretely, but there is objection on the part of some people to plain speaking. I shall be glad to have your suggestions and if librarians generally could have the benefit of your advice I think it would hold up their hands.
