My dear Miss Addams:

By way of Christmas Greeting I am sending you a copy of something Professor James wrote me as an "appreciation" of your book, to be printed in the Journal of Sociology. He declines to review any books, but I asked him for a short "appreciation," which I have received also, but not in the January number.

I want also to say how much I appreciate the hand you had in getting Harriet interested in something real and large enough to engage her fully. It is the greatest thing in the world for her.

Don't reply. You are too busy. With best wishes for the New Year.

William I Thomas [signed]
