August 23rd, 1917.
My dear Mrs. Richardson:
Your letter addressed to Miss Addams has been received in the office during Miss Addams' absence from the city. She will not return until late in October and I am writing in the meantime to a member of our Legislative Committee in Washington, asking her if she will send me a copy of the Food Bill. I think you may be interested to know that Miss Addams has agreed to speak for Mr. Hoover's Food Administration Department and expects to make perhaps two talks a month during the winter on the work of this department. Her first engagement will be up in Wisconsin during October.
I will see that your letter is brought to Miss Addams' attention, but as she is so far away from home and has no secretarial help at all, I think you may not hear from her very soon. In the meantime, I hope the Food Bill may reach you.
Very sincerely yours,
Office Secretary
