May 23, 1917.

Dear Miss Addams:

I called up Prof. Duggan's office on getting your wire, and have just sent a telegram to you, as enclosed. Prof. Duggan was away, and his secretary said there was a mistake in placing your name with the sub-topic, and that they had written you to that effect -- the letter evidently not yet reaching you.

At the session of the program committee the other evening, the matter was left that you were to be asked to speak at this session, and to choose your topic -- not being limited to the topics set down in the tentative program.

I have asked Prof. Duggan to send a copy of the program to Mrs. Mead. I think that Mrs. Spencer already [has one].

Sincerely,
