My dear Miss Abbott: --

I hope very much that you will consent to act upon the Committee on Labor which as you see from the enclosed outline is a sub-committee upon the general committee upon Social and Industrial Justice. We believe that these committees can be made most useful to the Progressive Party, that they will serve to keep alive the interest in these great themes, and also to furnish zeal and information to the thousands of men and women who have had little direct knowledge of social problems. It will give me a very great deal of pleasure if you will consent to act upon this committee.

Sincerely yours,

Jane Addams [signed]

Miss Edith Abbott,
Chicago
