My dear Mrs. Blaine: --
Miss Edith Wyatt has as you know done a lot towards ridding the stock yards of cruelty, but it is continually back again because the humane officer who represents the State has always been inadequate. She feels that if the person indicated in the enclosed could be appointed from the Bureau of Animal Industry something might be accomplished. She has asked me to ask you to sign one of the enclosed. If you feel that you can do it, will you return it to Miss Edith Wyatt, 4632 Sheridan Road. She is a very safe and thorough going person and I am sure would make no mistake in anyone whom she would select. Dr. Favill could tell you more about it in detail.
Very sincerely yours,
Jane Addams. [signed]
Mrs. Emmons Blaine,
Chicago.
