My dear Miss Browne

Miss Starr sent me your request concerning the Tolstoy passage and I am most sorry that I am not able to comply.

I do that sort of work very slowly and not well, and this week I am so crowded for time that I have delayed the reply to your letter much longer than I ought.

I should suggest [illegible] [page 2] "[that] loses them" from Prince's second cycle in "Peace in War" and places in "Resurrection." Of course the simplification of life to Tolstoy is secondary as it were, to his belief in labor.

Regretting this meagre response I am faithfully yours

Jane Addams
