My dear Mother

I had a comfortable ride into Chicago and reached Hull-House in time to lunch with Alice Hamilton who left shortly afterward for her European trip, at least she will not be back at the House until that is over.

It has been very warm since but I have been too occupied to think much about it [page 2] [although] I rather dread a lecture at the School of Civics this morning.

Mary Smith sends you her love, she is doing very well we think in spite of the heat and an unusual anxiety for her father because his regular nurse has gone on her vacation. With much love to you all, I am your loving daughter Jane Addams
