My dear Mr. Ehrich: --
I thank you very much for your kind letter of congratulation, and also for your invitation to accept the position of Vice President in the Free Trade League in case the Association increases the number eligible to that office. I am a Free Trader by conviction, but do not believe I have enough enthusiasm to be of any value in such a position, and am therefore obliged to decline the proposed honor.
I remember with much pleasure my visit in Colorado, and hope I may some time meet you again.
