Dear Mr. Bruce:--

I thank you for sending me copy of Miss Addams paper. I shall take it to the farm with me and read it. There is no personality of any sex that means as much to me as Jane Addams. I hope that kind, patient, wise, serious lady knows how much her life means to many people whom she touches only remotely.

When I have been in Chicago I have often thought of going to see her, but remembering how many demande are made upon her by the multitude that come to the settlement I have refrained from doing so. I know I have lost a great deal by the omission.

Sincerely yours,

Charles F. Amidon [signed]
