My dear Edith

I have just finished that noble book, Jane Addams's "Twenty Years at Hull House." I am so glad that you and Miss Breckinridge thought of sending it to me. It gives a splendid picture of a magnificent phase of American life -- & I have only one criticism [page 2] to make of it -- that it makes oneself personally feel such a worm.

I was not going to give you "a criticism," of it only to say that I am getting some other copies to give to English friends, for the book is an inspiration and the more widely it is read the better.

Well done! Chicago!

yrs always affectionately

Maude E. Marshall
