Dear Lady

I was very grateful for your long letter about Mary. Mrs Bowen had written you before my letter came but of course we were glad to have your second one.

We are expecting Mary tomorrow morning and a little note from her today seemed very cheerful. I think the last half of her sojourn has gone much better than the [first?] half [which] was [page 2] really pretty bad. It was so good of you to go to Bethel and we are all indebted to you for what you did for Mary. As soon as this wild Christmas rush is over I am going to write a longer letter and best of all, see you in Jan'y. This first letter goes with all my best wishes and affections to you and to your entire household.

Always yrs J. A.
