April 22/10

Dear Miss Addams,

That news of the Supreme Court decision was such good news that I couldn't help writing to you, because I knew how gratified you would feel. All who had interest in the movement will recognize the inspiration that you have given it, and will be glad to think of the satisfaction it must give you. After all, the world does move.

I must take this opportunity to thank you for the long-standing invitation to dinner at Hull House. I have [page 2] not yet accepted it, though I mean to. The fact is, that I haven't done properly half the things I was pledged to do this year, and I have a foolish fear of being drawn in by my sympathies to other enterprises until I have fulfilled my charge in those already undertaken. I am as frequently myself disappointed by people who won't do duties assigned to them that I try to keep from similar censure.

With best wishes for your continued health and strength

I am Sincerely yours

John H. Wigmore [signed]
