My dear Miss Addams:--
I think you are familiar with the exercises held under the auspices of the Union League Club February 22nd. On the morning of February 22nd it has been the custom of the Club to fill the Auditorium with High School boys and girls, and to have in connection with some music, two or three addresses. I am writing to ask whether you would be willing to make a fifteen minute address next February 22nd? We are very anxious to have a woman. Up to this time only men have spoken. As chairman of the committee having in charge these exercises, I am particularly anxious to have you speak to the five thousand or more boys and girls. The other speaker will be Mr. George E. Vincent. Father Sherman will also make a short address.
