I am returning the list loaned of certain distinguished foreigners who had the privilege of meeting our illustrious, illuminating, endearing, compassionate, sympathizing, judicious, friendly, gentle, much beloved citizen of Chicago. May the courage with which she undertakes great enterprises never fail and may she have some adequate, [page 2] comforting assurance of the ministry she bestows, of the response she awakens, of the purposes she fortifies.
