Miss Jane Addams,
Chicago, Ill.

My dear Miss Addams: --

As a woman believing in greater opportunities for women who by equal suffrage will take their [rightful] place in all of the [affairs] of the nation they love, I want to extend to you my congratulations and thanks for the wonderfully educative and fearless work you are doing not only for women but for all worthy human beings.

It was my pleasure to hear your eloquent and effective speech in supporting the nomination of Col. Roosevelt at Chicago last August. It will always remain as one of the bright memories in my recollection that I was so [privileged].

I might also say that I am in hearty accord with you in your support of the Progressive Party platform and all it stands for. It is the only thoroughly humane platform ever adopted by a political party.

Tendering you my respect and esteem, I am

Yours very truly,

Effa B. Hoffman. [signed]
