Dear Madam: -- Long time ago I should have thanked you for the kindness you have shown in forwarding my letter to the New York Suffrage Headquarter and acknowledged the receipt of your article and also your picture.
I am going to write an article on the movement from my own viewpoint, and at the same time I shall have the honor to introduce you on our page to the Japanese residents in the United States, though I don't like <to> call myself a resident, as I should be willing to become an American citizen if the Japanese were but granted to be so.
Never I saw myself a glimpse of the vice districts either in America or Japan, -- wholly through the utmost care of my mother, but when I read your "ancient evil" out of mere curiosity about the title I was more than moved [illegible] with its graphic pictures of horrors.
Could anyone with human heart stand to watch his or her innocent and ignorant comrades lead such heart-rending lives? I am sure that your cause will must <and> win through all and every means. I thought, therefore, as long as I get my bread and butter in this country, it is a moral duty on my part to do something, however helpless I am.
I wish only Japan had a Jane Addams.
