Biographical Text

Sir Henry Irving was a stage actor who later managed a successful touring theater company. He was a part of the Lyceum Theater, acting in various plays that were huge hits across England. In 1895, Irving became the first actor to be Knighted. Irving died in 1905.

Irving was married to Florence O'Callaghan in 1869, but later left her. The pair never divorced, but Irving had a partnership with Ellen Terry.
