Vilma Glücklich to Jane Addams, December 19, 1924

Geneva, Dec. 19th, 1924.

Dear Miss Addams,

I am awfully sorry you disagreed with my wiring to Chamberlain or with using your name, as I learn from the International Secretary of the British Section, Dr. Hilda Clark. Perhaps the enclosed copy of my telegram will show you that it was by no means too aggressive and that I had to sign the President's name in addressing a Foreign Minister. At the same time, I addressed the enclosed letter to eleven international Peace-[organizations] and three of them: the Federation of League of Nations' Associations, the International Peace Bureau [page 2] and the War Resisters' International, have already answered that they have taken up the matter.

I am heartbroken to see that I know your intentions so badly; it did not occur to me for a moment, that we could disagree on a question like this.

Please find enclosed a letter to the Executive Committee which I sent out last night and the first item of which is too urgent to wait for American answers. [page 3]

With the very best wishes for a happy new year

Yours affectionately

Vilma Glücklich [signed]
