Miss Jane Addams,

800 So. Halsted St.,
Chicago Ill.

Dear Miss Addams:

I read over to Miss Culver last night, the copy of my letter to you, dated October 10th, with regard to the suggested work for the National Federation of Settlements under the leadership of Dr. Thomas.

As a consequence of our discussion of the matter, I am [rewriting] that letter today and inserting an additional paragraph, (number four) in the letter, which I enclose to you herewith, and I wish you would return to me the original.

An additional reason for doing it in this manner is to correct the substitution of the word “emigrants” for the word “immigrants”, as dictated in the second paragraph of the letter, which I signed so hurriedly that I did not notice it.

Yours very truly,

Charles Hull Ewing [signed]
