My dear Miss Addams,
Thanks to you, I am here and seeing and enjoying a great deal. Yesterday I attended the executive Committee meeting of the W.I.L.P.F. I went with Mrs. Moore to see the President to speak to our resolutions, one of which does not appear on the enclosed list: it was that the State Department is urged to send a delegate to confer with the commission on reduction of armaments of the League of Nations. Yesterday, as Mrs. Moore had to leave, I had audience with Sec. Hughes alone.
I attended the ex. committee of the Council on Limitation of Armaments and have been asked to be a vice-president. I like Mr. Libbey and all the people at their headquarters and think the organization ought to continue after the Washington Conference and consolidate the work of all organizations in taking successive steps toward permanent peace.
I shall address the League of Pen Women on Sunday and speak in High Schools etc. next week. I am hoping to have an opportunity to do some useful work.
