Dec. 1, 1908.

Miss Jane Addams,
Hull House,
Chicago, Ill.

My dear Miss Addams:

We expect to devote our Department in Charities and the Commons for January to the subject of Health, with special reference to the laws for the prevention of diseases and the use of poisons. We wish very much that you could give us a signed editorial for that number on the general topic of the right of the individual and of society to be protected. You can develop the work along whatever line you wish. Our articles for that number will need to be in by the 20th of December. I sincerely hope you will be able to do this for us.

Most cordially,
