My dear Mr. Tippy:-

I am very sorry not to accept your cordial invitation to come to St. Louis in November. I have as many engagements at present as I can possibly fill, and very much regret that I am not able to be of some service to what seems to me a very significant assembly. Perhaps you will let me know of another gathering of the same federation when I shall be so fortunate as to be able to come.
