Dear Miss Addams,

Many thanks for sending me your interesting address. You made some excellent points in it, and I am very happy to receive it.

You will have heard of my having been forced to sell The Post because of wartime conditions, and my devoting myself to The Nation.

We are going to have a splendid weekly, I think. Certainly with Henry Mussey, William MacDonald, Albert Nock, Emily Balch, Frieda Kirchwey, Ruth Pickering and Mrs. Mussey on our staff we ought to accomplish something for the matters we all have at heart.

We have a staff luncheon every Thursday, and we shall want you to come to the very first one you can attend.

Cordially yours,

Oswald Garrison Villard Sr [signed]
