Dear Madam

I am told that you are a leading member of an organization for the promotion of peace and I take the liberty of asking you to have some of the literature published by your organization sent to me. I will distribute it where it will do good.

Please excuse me but you are the only person whose name and address [page 2] I know in that connection. I feel deeply interested in the restoration of peace, and I assure you I am not the only one hereabout as I find that the people everywhere are stirred up as I have never seen them before because their sons are being conscripted for a war none of them wants.
